What the Feed Turns Into
Nothing is transcribed the moment you paste. The feed is fetched and read first, and what comes back is a list.
- The titleThe title on that entry in the feed, as written.
- The dateThe publication date the feed gives. Unreadable or missing, and the list simply shows no date.
- The lengthThe duration the publisher wrote into the feed. It can be missing too.
- Whether you can pick itWhether that entry carries an enclosure, the audio address inside the feed. Entries without one are not on the list at all, rather than shown and greyed out.
The list holds the first 20 entries that carry audio, in the order the feed hands them over.
It is there for you to take one episode off it, and nothing about this feed runs on a schedule.

The card that appears when you pick an episode is not a checkout. Here is the order things actually happen in.

The confirmation card replaces the input box you just used, and the page does not move. It shows the episode name, the length the feed claims, a language you can leave on auto, roughly what this will cost, and a box confirming you have the right to transcribe it. When the feed lists no duration for that episode, this card does not appear at all: the draft opens on its own page and you confirm it there instead.

Confirming creates a draft and opens it on its own page. No credits have been deducted at this point. If you do not have an account yet, this step sends you to sign up first, and when you come back the card returns with your real balance and waits for you to press it again rather than starting on its own.

The File Is Fetched, Measured, and Only Then Charged
PodText downloads the audio the feed points at and measures how long it really runs. Transcription starts after that, and the credits come off then, calculated from the measured length rather than from the number written in the feed.
The List Moves On. Your Copy Does Not.
A feed is a living thing. The transcript you already have is not attached to it.
The feed will publish new episodes, and what it hands over can shift, so an episode on the list today may not be on it next time. A publisher can move or replace the audio address behind an episode. One thing changes on this side too: if this transcription was paid for entirely with your one-time signup credits and your balance never went below zero, the audio file is deleted seven days after it finishes.
What you already have stays: the text of that one episode, carrying the title the feed gave it; per-segment timestamps you can follow to jump to any moment covered by the transcript; an AI summary and chapters when they come through; and TXT, Markdown, SRT, and VTT exports, written from the text that is already stored.
The next episode is a second trip: paste the feed again, and the list you get is the list as it stands then.
